Man in Jinja Arrested for Assaulting Wife

It is alleged that Olwenyi slapped Nyamwenge on Thursday night at their home located in block H, Walukuba-Masese division, Jinja municipality after he found clothes of another man in the house.

Police in Jinja district have arrested Victor Olwenyi for assaulting his wife, Immaculate Nyamwenge, the Grade One Magistrate of Njeru. 

It is alleged that Olwenyi slapped Nyamwenge on Thursday night at their in block H, Walukuba-Masese division, Jinja municipality after he found clothes of another man in the house.

In her statement, recorded at Jinja CPS, Nyamwenge notes that Olwenyi is a violent man and their love life has been marred with mistrust which prompted her to file for divorce early this year.

“We have three children and legalized our marriage through a church wedding in 2017, but my husband never trusts me and I based on such grounds to file for divorce early this year,” reads her statement in part.

Meanwhile, Vincent Irama, the Jinja CPS commander says that the suspect is being charged with domestic violence and assault. 

He, however, adds that the couple is receiving free marital counselling services from the police’s child and family protection unit to pave way for the couple’s reconciliation.
