A man in Kisoro District has been arrested for killing his 18-year-old wife on accusations of refusing to cook supper.

Denise Ntezimana, a resident of Gikoro village, Chihe parish, Nyakinama sub-county, was killed by her husband, Brian Irakiza, on Thursday.

According to John Nzabanita  Gikoro village LCI Chairman, the disagreement started when Irakiza, who had married Ntezimana for only one month, ordered her to cook supper. But Ntezimana, who works as a barmaid in the same village, declined the request.

Nzabanita says that the disagreement resulted in a fight. Nzabanita describes the incident as unfortunate, saying that such a small matter should have been resolved amicably.

Elly Maate, police spokesperson for Kigezi region, confirms the incident, saying that Irakiza has already been arrested and is under detention at Kisoro police station as investigations into the matter continue.
