A man in Kisoro District has been arrested for killing his 18-year-old wife on
accusations of refusing to cook supper.
Denise Ntezimana, a resident of Gikoro village, Chihe parish, Nyakinama
sub-county, was killed by her husband, Brian Irakiza, on Thursday.
According to John Nzabanita Gikoro village LCI Chairman,
the disagreement started when Irakiza, who had married Ntezimana for only one
month, ordered her to cook supper. But Ntezimana, who works as a barmaid in
the same village, declined the request.
Nzabanita
says that the disagreement resulted in a fight. Nzabanita describes the incident
as unfortunate, saying that such a small matter should have been resolved
amicably.

Maate, police spokesperson for Kigezi region, confirms the incident, saying that
Irakiza has already been arrested and is under detention at Kisoro police station
as investigations into the matter continue.
