According to the West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson Collins Asea, the operation was conducted by UPDF personnel attached to Paidha's 57th Battalion at Yusuf Guest House in Parombo Town Council.
An intelligence-led operation by Uganda Peoples Defense Forces has led to the recovery of a rifle and rounds of ammunition from Parombo Town Council, Nebbi District.
According to the West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson Collins Asea, the operation was conducted by UPDF personnel attached to Paidha's 57th Battalion at Yusuf Guest House in Parombo Town Council.
Asea said that the rifle with registration number 58044841 and four rounds of ammunition was in the possession of Asuman Agwoko.
"On December 5, 2024, at approximately 8:00 PM, UPDF personnel attached to the 57th Battalion in Paidha conducted a successful operation at Yufa Guest House in Parombo Town Council. During the operation, a firearm, a rifle with registration number 58044841 and four rounds of ammunition, was recovered from a suspect, Asuman Agwoko in Room 5 of the guest house," Asea said.
Asea says preliminary investigation indicates that the gun belongs to a UPDF Officer currently deployed on a peacekeeping mission in Somalia. He added that the officer's wife, whose identity he declined to reveal allegedly sold the firearm to Agwoko.
Asea said further investigations into the matter are ongoing.
