Man Killed Over Suspected Infidelity

According to preliminary information, Ouma left for the funeral of his friend in Busia district on Monday evening but didn’t find his wife, Fanisi Nabwire at home upon his return. His five-year-old son reportedly told him that his mother had gone to the maize plantation with Siminyu.
Bugiri police are holding a man accused of chopping his neighbour to death. The suspect has been identified as Esau Ouma, a resident of Buduma village in Buluguyi Sub County while the deceased is David Siminyu.

According to preliminary information, Ouma left for the funeral of his friend in Busia district on Monday evening but didn’t find his wife, Fanisi Nabwire at home upon his return. His five-year-old son reportedly told him that his mother had gone to the maize plantation with Siminyu.

Ouma, who claims to have found the two having sexual intercourse in the maize plantation picked up a machete and chopped Siminyu but Nabwire managed to flee for dear life. Siminyu bled profusely and was rushed to Bugiri hospital for further management.

He died while being transferred to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital on Tuesday for better management. In her statement, Nabwire accuses Ouma of being insensitive and applying excessive force in solving the matter.

"I was having a private discussion with Siminyu but when my husband arrived, he just started chopped him using a panga without giving us a chance to explain what had transpired," she said.

The Busoga East Police Spokesperson, James Mubi, says Ouma has confessed to the crime and is currently in custody at Bugiri Central Police Station.
