A 44-year-old man in Nakasongola District has killed his wife and committed suicide.
Patrick Ndibaddawa, a resident of Kinoni village in Kakooge Sub-County, killed his wife, Ritah Mbabazi, after developing misunderstandings on Friday.
Thomas Bogere, the
LCI Chairman of Kitanda village, says that
Ndibaddawa had a prolonged domestic dispute with Mbabazi, which resulted in
their separation.
According to Bogere,
Ndibaddawa used a machete to slit his wife’s neck, causing her death instantly.
The couple had two
children.
After killing Mbabazi, Ndibaddawa fled the scene, heading to another location in Kitanda
village where he had a second wife.
From there, he
reportedly entered a nearby bush, where he hung himself with the aid of a
rope.

Sam Twiineamazima,
the Savannah Regional Police spokesperson, says that in
January, the couple developed misunderstandings, leading Mbabazi to live
separately with their children while operating a small bar.
He says that on Friday,
Mbabazi had reported a case of domestic violence and neglect of family
responsibilities to Katuugo Police Station. Ndibaddawa was
formally summoned to report to Katuugo Police. That night, police received a call from a resident reporting that Mbabazi had been killed.
Upon arrival,
officers found two children crying outside, informing them that their mother
was lying in the bedroom with blood.
Murders remain a
significant concern in the Savannah region, which comprises Luwero, Nakaseke,
and Nakasongola districts.
