Man Surrenders to Police After Killing Neighbour

Isah Ssemwogerere the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson says that Lotyang run away after the attack but today he handed himself to Nakasongola Central Police Station where he was detained and a charge of murder preferred against him.
An elderly man in Nakasongola district has surrendered to the police after killing his neighbour for hiding his wife following a domestic wrangle. Fifty-two-year-old Lokori Lotyang reportedly killed his neighbour Lokiru Lokuluku, 77 on Monday.   

The two are residents of Kitaleba village in Wabinyonyi Sub County in Nakasongola district. Patrick Ssenyonyi, a resident says Lotyang got a misunderstanding with his wife, Alice Kodet and run to Lokiru’s daughter for safety.   

He explains that the suspect assaulted Lokiru with a stick on suspicions that he could have been involved sexually with his wife living him unconscious in the compound. According to Ssenyonyi, Lokiru’s eleven-year-old grandson Paul Bokolemu heard his grandfather crying for help and ran to the trading center where he alerted his uncle, Phillip Lotuk.

Lotuk mobilized the residents and they rushed Lokiru to Nakasongola Health Center IV where medical workers pronounced him dead on arrival. Isah Ssemwogerere, the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson, says that Lotyang fled into hiding until Tuesday afternoon when he handed himself to Nakasongola Central Police Station.

Ssemwogerere says that upon interrogation, Lotyang confessed to killing Lokiru after finding him with his wife. He says that Police have recorded statements from residents and preferred murder charges against the deceased.
