The proprietor of Mariana Hotel in Kasese town, Ronald Mbaguta has been remanded to Mubuku prison until November 04, 2014.
Mbaguta was remanded along with Kigongo Kalemba, a "bouncer" at his hotel. The men face charges of murder.
The men had appeared before Grade One Magistrate George Mfitundinda.
Prosecution alleges that on September 20, 2014 while at Mariana Hotel, Mbaguta, Kalemba and others still at large killed Amis Mansur and hid his body. Mansur is a former radio presenter at Arua One FM.
Mbaguta and Kigongo, who were appearing before court since their arrest in September, were not allowed to take plea because the charges preferred against them are of capital nature and can only be tried by the High Court.
Security at the court was heightened to protect the suspects from the wrath of Mansur's relatives. Mansur's body has never been found.
Speaking to journalists shortly after court, Mbaguta's lawyer Collins Nuwagaba from M/S Ngaruye, Spencer and Co. Advocates said his client was arraigned in court following an order of unconditional release.
Niwagaba said that the order for the prosecution to produce Mbaguta in the Kasese Magistrates court was issued out on Monday by the Buganda Road Court in Kampala.
He said that his client had been continuously detained at the Wandegeya police station without any charges which had infringed on his rights.
Niwagaba added that they will apply for bail when Mbaguta is arraigned in the High Court but quickly added that his client will not push for a quick trial because it is a prosecution case.
The once very popular Mariana hotel has been closed since the incident.at the end of September.
