Faizal Mudhumba, another fisherman, says that their family has been experiencing psychological discomfort ever since his brother went missing.
The Marine police have retrieved the lifeless body of 20-year-old Badiru Mumbya from the shorelines of Lake Victoria in Jinja City Southern division. The late Mumbya, a resident of Soweto cell in Jinja City Southern division is reported to have drowned while swimming in Lake Victoria on January 30th, 2023.

Fishermen teamed up with marine police to search for his body in the past two days in vain until this morning when the body was found on the shores. Samuel Mulondo, a fisherman says that youths normally swim in lake Victoria but some of them ignore warning signs and end up drowning.

"Children and youths alike normally swim in lake Victoria but most of them ignore signs cautioning about deep ends, they experience simple drowning and are rescued by standby fishermen," he says.

Faizal Mudhumba, another fisherman, says that their family has been experiencing psychological discomfort ever since his brother went missing. He, however, says that they are grateful to the police and other well-wishers for helping them to find the deceased's body. Mudhumba says that Mumbya is survived by a wife and two children, whom he has been fending for through proceeds from odd jobs in the community.

The Kiira region police spokesperson, James Mubi says that the deceased's body has been handed over to his relatives for burial. Mubi says that preliminary findings show that Mumbya went swimming in the stormy waters of the Lake and was overpowered by the waves.
