Masaka Police Recovers Pistol, Arrests Four

The suspects in police custody have been identified as Tom Ateijuka a resident of Bulenga-Kampala, Allan Musoke, Isaac  Kyeyune who sometimes calls himself Faisal Kalyango and Deus  Byaruhanga all residents of  Kasaana village in Nyendo  Ssenyange Division in Masaka District.

 

The  Deputy Criminal Investigations  and Intelligence Directorate (CIID) Officer Bernard  Babu says that the men are part of the gang who were recently arrested  after  attacking Fausta Nantuuwa (52) a resident of Butenzi Village, Mazinga  parish- Buwunga Sub County in Masaka. The gang robbed her of 16 million shillings at gun point.

 

He says that on interrogation, the group led SIU operatives to Ateijuka‘s home in Bulenga, a Kampala suburb, where they recovered a Star Pistol with 4 live rounds of ammunition.

 

Babu goes on to say that the gang has been terrorizing passengers on the Kampala- Masaka, Mbarara, Mutukula highways. The group also regularly staged robberies in Masaka and the neighboring districts.

 

Babu says that when investigations into the matter are completed the suspects will be charged with aggravated robbery.
