Masindi NRM Tribunal Leaves Out Secretary Over Election Malpractice

Masindi District NRM party has set up a tribunal to heel political wounds, but not without controversy.

The party's Administrative Secretary Businge Mubyama, who according to the party rules is supposed to be the tribunal's secretary has been left out.

The five-member tribunal has been appointed by the NRM district executive committee.

Kabakumba Matsiko, the NRM party chairman for Masindi says Mubyama, who is also the NRM district returning officer cannot be among the tribunal, because he is an accused party.

Mubyama, who could not be reached for a comment did not attend the inauguration exercise held at Masindi hotel.

Kabakumba describes those appointed as the crème of integrity in the district. Godfrey Mugisa, a former RDC it's head, while Amamary Kabasindi , a retired head mistress is the acting secretary for the tribunal.

Other members are Azalia Rwahirwe, Prossy Isingoma and Sam Byakagaba.

Since the party primaries about a month ago, minister Kabakumba and Mubyama, never see eye-to-eye. Amidst the confusion, the two issued conflicting statements on radios, immediately following each other.

Even this time, it is evident that the fallow out is still gaping.

She says Mubyama is neither above the party at district level or the Central executive committee.

Cue out: " make a decision"//

The tribunal has an uphill task to settle the political disputes as many primary election losers have already picked up nomination forms to contest as independents.
