The late Buyinza's wife, Jessica Timujibwa, hopes that her husband and their children can finally rest in eternal peace following the befitting sentencing of their killer.
Residents of Nawanvubu village, in Buwaya sub county, in Mayuge district have this afternoon organized thanksgiving prayers in memory of their five people who were killed by a soldier attached to the special forces command, Pte. Robert Herbertson Birivumbuka.
On 29th, June, 2024, Birivumbuka shot dead his paternal uncle, Isaac Buyinza Mudhasi alongside his four children. The slain children are Elsie Kafuko, Resty Kantono, Nicholas Musasizi and Isaac Kitiibwa.
Their thanksgiving prayers follow yesterday's death sentence handed to Birivumbuka following his guilty plea to killing Buyinza.
He was given other sentences in regards to murdering his four cousins, four counts of attempted murder, coupled with three years imprisonment at Luzira maximum prisons on conviction of conspiring with his father Patrick Tagaba, to execute the murders and all the sentences will run concurrently.
To the residents, this has been their prayer, following their suspicion of Birivumbuka's involvement in the killing of his own relatives.
Led by the Buwaya sub county chairperson, Hussein Kamaali who presided over the prayers in Nawanvubu trading center, they are overjoyed over God's mercies, which he says guided the court martial chairman, Lt. Col. Moses Nabasa to pass the judgement.
Kamaali argues that, this landmark judgement was the daily prayer of the local residents, who were left in utter shock following what he termed as the senseless killing of an enterprising resident and his young children.
Kamaali adds that, with the incident still fresh in the minds of the family, they can only comfort them in prayer, through thanking God for the timely justice, as they look forward to maneuvering the future ahead.

Ronnie Mulondo, a Mayuge pastor, says that following the kickoff of the court hearing on Monday this week, hundreds of residents from Nawanvubu village have been thronging Buwaya sub county headquarters in hope of getting justice, which happened yesterday.
Mulondo says this has restored their lost hope, which had faded after news of Buyinza's shooting alongside his children.
Mulondo says that at the moment, their fear and suspicion have waned and they now have hope of building on the broken pieces to support Buyinza's family to flourish amidst the challenges of reestablishing themselves over pain.
On her part, Jessica Timujibwa hopes that her late husband Buyinza and their children can finally rest in eternal peace following the befitting sentencing of their killer.
Timujibwa says that she has been struggling to contain depression following the gruesome killing of her beloved family members, but Birivumbuka's sentencing has finally lightened up the heaviness in her to focus on decently raising the surviving children.

Another resident Fred Isanga, says that the court martial judgement is a clear indicator of how violence leads to long lasting consequences to both the perpetrators and victims alike, which should never be tolerated by right thinking individuals.
Isanga further notes that as the community celebrates God for allowing justice to prevail over their pain, they carry with them the relevance of amicably resolving family wrangles as such unresolved conflicts threaten regrettable forms of avoidable violence.
