DP Leaders Ask Mbabazi to Commit on Buganda Issues

According to Nambooze, since they have declared support for Mbabazi they want him to stand firm on the issues of Buganda.

Democratic Party-DP leaders from Buganda want Ex-prime Minister Amama Mbabazi to commit to address the issues of Buganda once elected into power.

Key of the issues of concern to Buganda include the restoration of the federal system of governance, revision of land laws and the return of the 9000 square miles of land government took from Buganda Kingdom after independence.

They also want Mbabazi to make assurances that the institution of the Kabaka will be protected and secured and that the boundaries of Buganda will clearly be defined among other things. 

Betty Nambooze, the DP vice president for Buganda region spoke to URN on the Buganda issues on the sidelines of a convention of DP leaders at Nsambya Sharing Hall on Wednesday.

Other opposition parties behind Mbabazi include Olara Otunnu\'s Uganda People\'s Congress (UPC), Uganda Federal Alliance (UFA), People\'s Progressive Party (PPP) and Justice Forum (JEEMA).
