Mbale City Receives UGX25.8BN to Construct 3.6 kms of Roads

According to Paulo Batanda, the Town Clerk of Mbale City, they have already signed an agreement and the money has already been wired to Mbale City account.

Mbale city has received 25.8 billion shillings from World Bank loan under Uganda Support to Municipal Infrastructure Development USMID program to construct 3.6 kilometer roads. This translates to about 7.2 billion Shillings per kilometre.

According to Paulo Batanda, the town clerk of Mbale city, they have already signed an agreement and the money has already been wired to Mbale city account.He mentioned roads which are going to be constricted as Manafwa road 0.4 kilometers, North road 0.4 kilometers, Kokojeru terrace 0.4 kilometers, Palisa Bishop Wasike connection  road 2.1 kilometers and central road 0.3 kilometers. 

Bantanda also says that they are in the process of awarding the contract to Dott Services and works start officially next month in April.The town clerk urged locals to embrace the project saying that this will enable the city to shine and develop.

Martine Mandu and Emma Simiyu both residents from Mbale city expressed their happiness with the development saying that once these roads are complete, this will enable them to regain the lost of glory of being the most beautiful town in East Africa.
