Mbale Woman MP Supporter Ngotowa Granted Bail

Prosecution alleges that that Ngotowa posted messages on different WhatsApp groups abusing Nakayenze’s rival, Lydia Wanyoto.

 Mbale Magistrate’s court has granted bail to Hudson Ngotowa, the supporter of the Mbale District Woman Member of Parliament, Connie Galiwango.  

Ngotowa was charged with offensive communication under the computer misuse act 2011.   

Prosecution alleges that that Ngotowa posted messages on different WhatsApp groups abusing Nakayenze’s rival, Lydia Wanyoto.     

The offences were allegedly committed on IUIU youth Forum on August, 24th 2019, Elgon Voice on August 28th, 2019 and NRM media Panellists between 1st-4, September 2019 among others. 

Grade One Magistrate Agnes Nantawo granted bail to the accused on a condition that he must deposit 500,000 Shillings cash, and his sureties were bonded at 2 million Shillings, non-cash.   

The sureties included Umar Muzzi, the Namatala ward councillor, George Nandege a special Hire driver in Mbale town and David Musonyi the LCI chairperson in Nabweya parish.

Yusuf Mutembuli, Ngotowa’s Lawyer said that police infringed on Ngotowa’s constitutional right of detaining him beyond 24 hours.
