Authorities in Mbarara district have ordered the closure of
Alliance in Motion Global offices and Branches in Mbarara.
This follows complaints from members of the public about the
operations of the company.
According to Mbarara Resident District Commissioner Maj. James Mwesigye,
the company which sells food supplements has been cheating people promising to
give them shares in the company.
On Wednesday, a team of leaders from Mbarara district visited the
company offices at Kirimi house along Baguta road and issued an ultimatum to
the managers to closure.
Mbarara Deputy Resident District Commissioner Emmy Katera says that
more than 100 people were found locked in a room and being mentored and forced
to pay 800,000 shillings to buy a single share in the organization and that the
more shares they bought means that they enable them get more money.
Katera says that the business is fuelling crime with the youth stealing
from their relatives and family members to raise the money.
Anthony Otimo one of the Alliance in motion global staff revealed
that they are licensed to do business and is surprised by the actions of the
authorities.
Jacqueline Ayebare, another staff says that the she bought two
shares at 1.6 million shillings and she is yet to get any profits for the last
four months. She revealed that she was encouraged to recruit more members so
that she can be able to see the benefits of her investment.
