Police in Mbarara have arrested a presiding officer and two polling assistants for election malpractice.

South western regional police commander Chris Bakesima says that the presiding officer whose names he declined to reveal for investigative purposes was found with 60 ballot papers that had been ticked

Bakesima claims that the ballot papers had been ticked in favour of the Forum for Democratic Change president Kiiza Besigye. The ballot papers were allegedly ticked at Rwembwa Church of Uganda polling station in the newly created district of Isingiro.

Bakesima also says that police in Mbarara have also arrested 2 students from Lake Mburo senior secondary school for attempting to vote twice.
