Jovia Birungi, a resident of Kiruhura district says the suspect convinced her to sell off her livestock to raise Shillings 5 million so as to get shares in Millennium Gold U Limited.
The Police Flying Squad in Mbarara has picked up a man accused of conning residents Shillings 200 million. The suspect is Edson Nuwabiine, a resident of Eden in Kakiika Division in Mbarara Municipality.
The suspect was picked up on Wednesday from Liverpool Guest House in Mbarara town and transferred to Ibanda district where he allegedly collected money from over 300 people.
Nuwabiine has reportedly been masquerading as an employee of Millennium Gold (U) Limited, a Kampala based Savings and Credit Organization. However, his luck ran out when dozens of his victims started frequenting the office of Ibanda Resident District Commission, Eliasto Akatuhebwa on suspicion that they had been conned.

During arrest, police found Nuwabiine in possession of documents and receipt books bearing the logo of Millennium Gold (U) Limited. The documents also showed that Millennium Gold (U) Limited owns a community center know as Mother Care Community Center, which caters for less advantaged children.
Denis Ochama, the Ibanda District Police Commander, says investigations into the matter are ongoing. He however, says the suspect has confessed receiving money from some of the complainants.
