Byabagambi lost to Dr John Paul Ninkusiima commonly known as Panadol. Others are Dr Innocent Atuhe, Jaro Twesigyomwe and Julius Rutaro.
The Minister for Karamoja Affairs, Eng. John Byabagambi has been
defeated in the NRM party primaries in Ibanda South.
Byabagambi lost to Dr John Paul Ninkusiima commonly known as
Panadol. Others are Dr Innocent Atuhe, Jaro Twesigyomwe and Julius Rutaro.
Byabagambi has represented Ibanda south in Parliament since 2001 to date and has
served in different government portfolios including State for Works and Transport
later full minister.
Ninkusiima garnered 15,983 votes against Byabagambi’s 12,534. Atuhe managed 1,454
votes, Rutaro got 216 and Twesigyomwe got 212 votes.
In Ibanda North the incumbent Maj David Guma Gumisiriza was
defeated by the former area representative Xavier Akampurira Kyooma.
Guma garnered 10,937 against Akampurira’s 13,639 votes.
In Ibanda Municipality, Prof Venansius Baryamureeba the former Presidential
candidate and ex-Makerere University Vice-chancellor was defeated by the
Incumbent Tarsis Rwaburindore.
Rwaburindore retained the seat with 13,276 votes against Baryamureeba’s
1332 votes.
