Adolf Mwesige, the minister of Local Government has made a U- turn and ordered for the removal of the newly sworn in Kamuli Vice LC V chairman. Thomas Kategere was sworn into office on Friday last week amidst protests from district councilors. They blocked the appointment of Kategere citing his previous recording and bribery allegations.

Despite the objections by the councilors, John Kashaka Muwanguzi the permanent secretary ministry of local government ordered Kamuli Chief Administrative Officer to swear him into office without delay. But in a twist of events, Adolf Mwesige has wrote has written a letter throwing Kategere out of office. In his letter dated July 14 says that Kategere should be thrown out of office because he is 29-year-old, which is does not allow him to hold the office.

Mwesige also disassociated himself from the letter written by his permanent secretary ordering the swearing in of Kategere. He claims that the PS acted in his individual capacity and didn’t consult him. Mwesige has therefore ordered Kamuli LC V chairman to make fresh nominations for the position of his deputy.

He also directed Kamuli CAO Catherine Amal not to release any money to Kategere as the district vice chairperson to this effect. But Kategere says he was sworn in legally and the matter saying the matter will be sorted out in court.
