Missing Man Found Dead in Kikuube District

On June 17, 2024, Ayimbisibwe’s lifeless body was discovered wrapped in a sack and dumped in a coffee plantation in the same area. According to Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, the body had bruises on the neck, indicating that the killers may have strangled him before dumping the body.

A man who went missing in Kikuube district has been found dead in a coffee plantation. 

The deceased, Posiano Ayimbisibwe, 23, was a resident of Karama village, Kimbugu parish in Kabwoya sub-county, Kikuube district. Ayimbisibwe went missing from his home on June 13, 2024. Despite efforts from family members and area residents, the search for him was initially in vain, prompting them to report the matter to Kikuube police who then joined the search.

On June 17, 2024, Ayimbisibwe’s lifeless body was discovered wrapped in a sack and dumped in a coffee plantation in the same area. According to Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, the body had bruises on the neck, indicating that the killers may have strangled him before dumping the body.

Hakiza mentioned that two suspects, Rosemary Zamukunda, Ayimbisibwe’s stepmother, and Taracis Aliganyira, his uncle, who are suspected of masterminding the murder, have fled the area and are being hunted by the police. The two suspects had a long-standing feud with Ayimbisibwe over a piece of land and had repeatedly threatened his life.

The police retrieved the body and conveyed it to the Kikuube Health Center IV mortuary for a postmortem examination before handing it over to the relatives for burial arrangements.
