A vehicle belonging to Adam Mugisa Kairu, a driver who went missing in Hoima district has been recovered in Kampala.

The vehicle registration number UAD 745Y was recovered ion Friday in Kyengera, Makindye Division near Kampala.

Romeo Ojara, the Acting Hoima district police commander, says the vehicle was found abandoned by the residents who alerted the police.

Ojara says the vehicle is at Kyengera police station pending investigations. It is suspected that Kairu's assailants abandoned the vehicle in the area.

Adam Kairu went missing on March 4 this year from his home in Kyarwabuyamba in Hoima town council.

His wife Mary Mugisa, told the police that his husband was approached by two unidentified men claiming they had a patient in Bulima Masindi district.

The men wanted Kairu to help them transport the patient to Hoima regional referral hospital.

Kairu and the two men set off for Bulima and that was the last time Kairu was seen.

Police have tried to trace for him in vain.

Ojara however says the recovery of the vehicle is a major break through in their investigations.

Five suspects have since been arrested in connection with the driver's disappearance. Their identities have been kept since the police are still-hunting for others including the prime suspect.

According to Ojara all the suspects were arrested with the help of a phone tracker.
