Emmanuel Elweu reportedly disappeared when he went for patrol in Funve forest reserve together with Idris Nassur and Geoffrey Mbabazi, the Forest supervisor in Kyamuswa County. His lifeless body was found on Thursday morning with in the middle of Funve forest reserve together with his gun.
A Police
officer who went missing on Wednesday in Kalangala District has been found dead in Funve Central
Government Forest Reserve on Bubembe Island in Mazinga Sub-County.
Emmanuel Elweu reportedly disappeared when he went for
patrol in Funve forest reserve together with Idris Nassur and Geoffrey Mbabazi,
the Forest supervisor in Kyamuswa County.
His lifeless body was found on
Thursday morning with in the middle of Funve forest reserve together with his
gun.
Police have since picked up more than 25 suspects for interrogation
in connection to the murder.
Salongo Muhammad Nsubuga, the Greater Masaka
Regional Spokesperson, says some goons attacked the officer while on duty in
Funve Reserve Forest.

He says one of the suspects he identifies as Ibrahim Damba, who was shot in the
thigh by the officers is under close monitoring at Kalangala Health Center IV.

Damba told URN at the hospital that the
officers often charge them between Shillings 200,000 and 500,000 to allow them in
the Forest Reserve.

in Kalangala District where they end up clashing with security officers.
