Police in Mitooma district have arrested a teacher attached to Nyakahita Primary school in Mutaara Sub County for alleged defilement.

John Bosco Arinaitwe was picked up this week after primary seven leaver at Nyakahita primary school reported to police that she was carrying his child. The victim is aged 14 years.

The teacher had taken advantage of the 2016 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) period to convince the then candidate into sex promising to cheat for her the science exams.

He reportedly managed to convince the pupil to tell her parents that all the candidates were required to stay at school but was instead staying at the suspect's home.

Bernard Mbangira, the chairperson of the school management committee told URN that the school administration moved in and handed over the teacher to police after learning of the matter.

He says that the teacher had earlier been accused by female pupils of making advances on them but had not been implicated.

Mitooma district police commander Henry Mugarura says the suspect is being held at Mitooma police station pending further investigations into the matter.
