The Mityana district LC 5 chairperson Kyazike Deborah Kinobe and her vice Busagwa Gabriel have been suspended over alleged abuse of office and bribery.

Kinobe and her vice have been suspended in an ordinary district council, sitting at the district headquarters in Mityana town.

The council was called after the councillor’s solicited for signatures and petitioned the speaker Sserumaga Aloysius to get an explanation why Kinobe was recently arrested at Katwe police station in Kampala and why her vice Busagwa is in hiding.

As the council started, Ronald Keeya, the councillor representing Kalangaalo Sub County, presented a motion to ask for an explanation from Kinobe of why she had been arrested and why Busagwa has been in hiding for a full month.

Kinobe explained that it was true she had been detained but said all the information was not true and intended to tarnish her image.

She said the speaker had Busagwa had asked for a leave from office of two months but was only granted one month on January.

Nshimye Allan the councillor representing Bulera sub county suggested that a committee be put up to investigate the matter. Speaker Sserumaga Aloysius appointed Lumu Richard to head the committee.
