he sustained in a mob attack in Hoima town on Sunday night.
The mob descended on Katumba when he led a team of officers to rescue a
suspected motorcycle robber in Kiganda cell in Kahoora division around 11:00pm.
He sustained injuries in the head, shoulder and ear. According to information
obtained by URN, angry boda boda motorcyclists who tried to lynch the suspected
turned against Katumba and his men and started pelting them with stones.
Although police fired in the air to disperse
the mob, they continued charging at the officers prompting them to call from reinforcement from
the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces-UPDF and the Anti-riot police, which rushed
and rescued the DPC and his team.
Katumba condemned the mob attack in an interview with URN on Monday
afternoon, saying it was uncalled for. He warned the public against taking
the law into their hands, saying mob justice is criminal.

Katumba says they are
hunting for the ring leaders of the mob to face the law.
The suspected motorcycle
thief succumbed to the injuries he sustained as a result of the mob attack. His
body is currently lying at Hoima hospital mortuary.
