Siraje Buyinza, a resident explains that such acts of mob justice are resurfacing because people have lost confidence in the police. He adds that over the last two months, at least 20 head of cattle have been stolen from different homes in the same village.
Luweero District Chairman Abdul Nadduli condoned the public action arguing that the people are fed up because oftentimes the suspects are freed moments after their arrest, and no trial has ever been fruitful. Nadduli further warned that this was just the beginning of a massive mob campaign to eradicate thefts from Luweero.
But Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson Lameck Kigozi condemned the killings saying residents had denied police vital information which could have led to the arrest all the people in clique. Kigozi further explains that four of the suspected thieves escaped the attack.
