The voting exercise in the Oyam County North By-Election has been interrupted by early morning rains. Despite the dispatch of polling materials starting at 4:00 am to ensure a timely start of voting, the rain prevented voting from commencing in four out of seven administrative units in Oyam County North, particularly in Oyam Town Council, Iceme sub-county and town council, and Otwal sub-county.

At the Akaoidebe market polling station in Iceme Town Council, the presiding officer, Ambrose Okello, explained that voting could not begin due to the absence of voters caused by the rain.

According to the revised electoral law, voting should have started at exactly 7:00 am, but without voters present, the voting materials could not be opened.

Lawrence Omara, a voter at Iceme Town Council, arrived at the polling station at 7:30 am but was unable to cast his vote due to the rain. He expressed concern that many voters might not show up to vote due to the bad roads caused by the rain.
