Morocco Based Mohammed Shaban Beefs-up West Nile team

W. Nile FUFA Drum Team Players will be joined by new strikers in Gulu on Sunday.

West Nile Province Football team has been beefed up by the arrival of Morocco based professional Mohammed Shaban and Alex Leku.

The duo joined the West Nile Province Football team on Thursday in training ahead of their FUFA drum return leg against Acholi province on Sunday.

Shaban plies his trade with Raja Casablanca FC in Morocco, while Alex Leku features for  Botswana Premier League side Galaxy FC.

Team coach Umar Abdallah says the arrival of the two experienced strikers will boost the attacking force of the team. According to the coach they have started two training sessions to help the players prepare better. He says they are emphasizing on the finishing and ball possession before they travel to Gulu.

West Nile are currently third on the table with just three points. They are hoping to pick maximum points when they travel to Gulu so that they boost their chances of qualifying for the quarterfinals.

According to the team spokesman Kharim Toko, fans have heightened their efforts to mobilize funds for the team to travel to Gulu. He said they want to raise over UGX 5million by Saturday. 

Gaagaa Bus, Nile Coach, KKT, California Bus Companies have offered a bus each to transport the player and fans, while the Onduparaka Patron Bernard Atiku has offered to feed the players on Saturday and Sunday.
