Dr. Filbert Nyeko, the Director Moroto Regional Referral Hospital is on interdiction for alleged misappropriation of funds. Dr. Nyeko was interdicted by the Health Ministry Permanent Secretary, Diana Atwine on March 30th.
It came after Dr. Nyeko was charged was slapped with embezzlement and misappropriation of funds on January 23rd, 2017. He is accused of embezzling funds meant for the maintenance of the regional workshop in the 2015/16 financial year.
He is jointly charged with the Human Resource Officer for allegedly manipulating the payroll leading to the payment of his salary to the tune of Shillings 11,722,257 over and above his usual pay in the month of February, 2015.
Dr. Nyeko is also accused of causing Moroto Hospital a financial loss of Shillings 38,767,720 when he damaged the hospital vehicle registration number UGX 3989M while doing his personal work.

Dr. Nyeko blames his woes on individuals in the hospital; he says are unhappy with his work. Dr. Nyeko was transferred to Moroto Regional Referral Hospital in 2015 after Dr. Alex Andema was taken to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital.
