David Matagala, an uncle to the deceased says that the family has been entangled in endless family wars over land and efforts of reconciling them were never fruitful

Police in Buyende district has rescued 55 year old Nasabu Tawomerawo from being lynched, after an angry mob accused her of killing her own son, Issa Nyerere aged 30 years.

It is reported that Tawomerawo, a resident of Buwebya village, in Bugaya sub county, in Buyende district, developed misunderstandings with Nyerere over land issues during Thursday evening.

Tawomerawo hit Nyerere twice with an axe in the head, before locking herself in the house.

David Matagala, an uncle to the deceased says that the family has been entangled in endless family wars over land and efforts of reconciling them were never fruitful, despite several engagements with both local leaders and extended family members alike.

Angry residents attempted to break her house down, but she survived with minor injuries and was rescued by police personnel who rushed her to Kamuli general hospital emergency unit for immediate management.

A group of angry youth however, stormed the hospital with an aim of lynching the suspect, but police reinforced by deploying more personnel who overpowered the mob.

Busoga North's police spokesperson, Michael Kasadha confirms the incident, adding that, they have deployed plain clothed policemen, who will gather intelligence led information aimed at ensuring the safety of the suspect throughout her recovery period at the hospital.

Kasadha adds that, an autopsy procedure was carried out and the deceased has since been handed over to the relatives for burial.
