A Hippopotamus has killed a fisherman on River Nile in Moyo District. The deceased has been identified as Setimo Ajusi, a resident of Pamangara village in Lebubu Parish. Ajusi met his death on Monday evening when he went to check on his fishing nets on river Nile.

Morris Vuzi Nyidanyi, the Dufile Sub county LC 3 chairpersons says they discovered Ajusi\'s body at about 6pm on Monday evening. He says apart from killing the fisherman, Hippos in the area repeatedly destroy resident\'s food crops and fishing gears.

“The community wrote to Moyo District local government complaining about the Hippos and forwarded the same complaint to Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities but nothing has been done,”Vuzi said.

According to Vuzi, the killer Hippo has been crossing to the lower side of river Nile to wreak havoc. Michael Drali, the chairman of Fishermen in Dufile sub county says at least five people have lost their lives in Hippo attacks over the past two and half years.
