Moyo Students Strike over Poor Administration

The students on Wednesday stormed the District headquarters in a peaceful demonstration to express their dissatisfaction over the administration.They accuse the head teacher Fred Ojara of exercising dictatorship, promoting tribalism, failing to account for entertainment funds for last term and cancelling the visitation Day.

Students of Metu Senior Secondary School in Moyo District have gone on strike over poor administration of the school.

The students on Wednesday stormed the District headquarters in a peaceful demonstration to express their dissatisfaction over the administration.

They accuse the head teacher Fred Ojara of exercising dictatorship, promoting tribalism, failing to account for entertainment funds for last term and cancelling the visitation Day.

The students who demanded the transfer of Ojara further accuse the school administraton of underfeeding them and failing to fix the broken television set among others.

Williams Anyama, the Moyo LCV Chairperson who is also the Secretary for Education urged the students to be patient as his office look into their grievances.

The Minister of State for Primary Health Care Doctor Joyce Moriku Kaducu blamed Moyo District leaders for not addressing the plight of the students.

The students later returned to class as the school management met to discuss the grievances of the students. 

Last term, the students went on strike and vandalized school property worth millions of shillings. 35 students believed to have been ring leaders were dismissed.
