MP Ababiku\'s Mobilizers Arrested Over Bribery

Police says the suspects were arrested distributing money to households, ahead of the Tuesday National Resistance Movement elections.

Nine mobilizers of Adjumani district woman MP, Jessica Ababiku have been arrested on allegations of voter bribery.

The nine suspects were arrested following a tip off from a concerned citizen, who told police they were distributing money to party members.

North Western Regional Police spokesperson, Josephine Angucia says the suspects were arrested around 9:30pm from Magi village, Magi parish in Okusijoni sub-county.

Jessica Ababiku however denied the allegations, and claims her mobilizers were reminding people to vote wisely.

Recently, a group of NRM supporters in Arua stormed the office of the Resident District Commissioner, threatening to quit the party over what they described as vote rigging.

The NRM electoral commission chairman, Dr. Tanga Odoi recently warned all aspirants against voter bribery, urging police to arrest whoever is got giving money to voters.
