Kiyingi's political strategist, Muhammad Musa Matovu Kigongo, says his boss could hardly breath when he was flown out of the country. According to Kigongo, Kiyingi developed complications in November last year but his conditioned worsened in December.

He is optimistic that the MP will improve given the quality of medicals services in Thailand. Kiyingi missed the crucial vote on the removal of the presidential age limit.
