MP Niwagaba Welcomes Appointment As Shadow Attorney General

Niwagaba said that before his appointment, he was approached by Winnie Kiiza, the Leader of Opposition inquiring on whether he would mind serving in the shadow cabinet and raised no objection. According to Niwagaba, he will use his position to push for the proposed electoral reforms presented by civil society, MPs and other stakeholders in the Ninth parliament.

 Wilfred Niwagaba, the Ndorwa West Member of Parliament has welcomed his appointment to the shadow cabinet. Niwagaba is one of the 30 member shadow cabinet unveiled by the opposition Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party leadership on Tuesday.

The former rebel NRM legislator is the new shadow Attorney General. Niwagaba sought re-election as independent following disagreements with the ruling party, which led to his expulsion from the party.

 

 

Speaking to URN on phone this afternoon, Niwagaba said that he received the news of his appointment to the shadow cabinet from his friend while in Nairobi Kenya.

Niwagaba noted that as an independent he has the freedom to associate with anybody, adding that it will be honor for him to serve as a shadow attorney general.

Niwagaba said that before his appointment, he was approached by Winnie Kiiza, the Leader of Opposition inquiring on whether he would mind serving in the shadow cabinet and raised no objection.

According to Niwagaba, he will use his position to push for the proposed electoral reforms presented by civil society, MPs and other stakeholders in the Ninth parliament. 

Niwagaba also pledged to see to it that all proposed laws by government to parliament comply with the constitutional provisions.
