Major-General Gregory Mugisha Muntu has rallied Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party supporters in the Tooro region to vote him as he seeks for another term at the helm of the opposition political party.

On Thursday, Muntu met FDC party delegates in Kabarole and Bunyangabu districts. Muntu told the delegates that he will focus his second term on building party structures right from the grassroots.

He explained that poor mobilization is the reason the party doesn't have enough support at the grass root level adding that once elected , the party will be able to recruit party members at village, parish and Sub County level.

Charles Musinguzi, a party member in Rwimi Sub County asked Muntu the plans he has to ensure that FDC fields candidates in all leadership positions during the 2021 general election.

Muntu, who was accompanied by Winnie Kiiza, the leader of opposition in parliament admitted that party support at the village, parish and Sub County was still low, but promised to revive the support once re-elected. He observed that that without party structures and key representation at various levels, it would be difficult for the party to assume power.

Muntu also boasted of internal democracy in the FDC party, citing the elections of the party president.  He says that the NRM and other political parties should start borrowing a leaf from the FDC party.
