Over 100 students at the Makerere University study center in Jinja are crying foul play after failing to access their internship fees from the university. The students claim that despite paying the internship fees to the university, they have been unable to access it yet their internship period is coming to an end.

The science students are entitled to 380 000 while their arts counterpants recieve 250 000 shillings for internship. The affected students claim that they have made several attempts to speak to Prof J.B Nyakana, the coordinator of the Makerere University Jinja study center in vain.

The students who declined to be named for fear of being victimized by the university adiministration, suspect that their internship fee could have been diverted by the directors of the center directors for their private business. As a result, the students have threatened to abandon the center unless their money is released to them immediately.

Prof J B Nyakana, the coordinator of the center told URN on phone that he has submitted the accounts of the affected students to the university bursary for the remitting of their funds but he is yet to get a response. He faulted students for rushing to the media saying the matter is administrative and shouldn’t be blown out of proportion.
