A couple in Mukono district is embroiled in a property dispute. Doreen Ouchoro, a resident of Namyoya in Goma Division in Mukono Municipality accuses her husband, Denis Ouchoro of denying her access to all her property following her return from Canada where she spent four years.

Doreen Ouchoro, who has pitched camp outside the contested house for the last five days, says that she built their family house and started an events company using bank loans before travelling to Canada to get more capital to expand the business.

She, however, says that upon her return to Uganda, her husband Denis Ouchoro, who didn’t support her travel overseas has since locked her outside her home and blocked her from accessing their four children.

According to Doreen Ouchoro, after completing their studies at Kyambogo University they got married but her husband didn’t bother getting a job. He decided to stay at home to look after their children. She accuses her husband has hatched plans to grab all her property.

“He has started playing tricks to take all my properties. He hired a lawyer who has approached me with papers to sign changing ownership rights of the house and events company to his name. I have sought redress from Seeta police but nothing has yielded, they have only come here to investigate the shooting that happened as I tried to open the gate,” Doreen told our reporter.

She also says that husband has hired bouncers from Kireka with strict instructions to ensure that the children don’t get out of the home.

Denis Ouchoro declined to respond to the direct accusations by his wife, saying these were family matters that he couldn’t discuss with the media.

Bernard Kasambu, the Namyoya Village LC I Chairperson, says that their efforts to access the home and mediate between the couple haven’t yielded results. He says that when they tried to access the home the private guard deployed by the husband fired in the air, which forced them to retreat.

The Mukono Division Police Commander, Ismael Kifude, said intelligence is handling the matter and ensure the safety of the children.
