Mumbere made the call during a meeting with Forum for Democratic Change presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye in his Buhikira Royal palace in Kasese town this morning. Mumbere added that Rwenzururu Kingdom will work with any government that is voted into power by the people of Uganda.
The king of Rwenzururu Charles Wesley Mumbere implores all presidential candidates to gracefully accept the outcome of the February 18 general election as a sign of political maturity and enhanced democracy for Uganda.
Mumbere also encouraged President Yoweri Museveni, the National Resistance Movement party presidential candidate, to peacefully handover power if results from the poll do not favor him.
Mumbere made the call during a meeting with Forum for Democratic Change party presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye at Buhikira Royal palace in Kasese town this morning. Mumbere added that Rwenzururu Kingdom will work with any government that is voted into power by the people of Uganda.
Dr Besigye is finalizing his campaign trail in Kasese district later today with rallies in Busongora county and Kasese Municipality. He has so far addressed up to 10 rallies in the district.
During the meeting with Mumbere, Besigye pledged to strengthen cultural institutions by financing programs aimed at reshaping the moral standards and values of Ugandans. Dr. Besigye says he has always been comfortable visiting Rwenzururu Kingdom because he has a contribution to the struggle for its recognition.
He later addressed residents of Katwe-Kabatoro Town Council and pledged that his government would introduce a special program to get rid of crocodiles and elephants that have ravaged the area over the years.
The area neighboring Queen Elizabeth National Park and Lakes; Edward and George, is threatened by persistent attacks from elephants and crocodiles which destroy crops, properties and people's lives.
Jackson Rwengaju the Chairperson of Top Hill village in Katwe says the crocodiles usually attack people who fetch water from the shores of Lake Edward and George. Eight people were confirmed dead as a result of crocodile attacks since 2014.
Besiege promised to order for the removal of crocodiles from Lake Edward and George in Katwe and work on fencing Queen Elizabeth National Park with electric fence to curb the animal problem if elected the president of Uganda.
