Uganda's Ronald Musagala finished second in the 1500m race at the de Montreuil, France on Tuesday evening.
Musagala who has already qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games finished with a time of 3:36:34 behind Kenya's Benson Kiplagat Seurei.
“We are happy that Musagala is performing well and these races will prepare him better for the Olympics. He has been out injured and is just returning to competitive action,” Dominic Otuchet, President of the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) told URN on Thursday.
Four other athletes Martin Musau, Moses Kurong, Abel Chebet and Alex Cherop also left last night to take part in different races in the Netherlands under Global Sports Communication.
Uganda has already qualified 15 athletes for the Olympics with 2012 marathon gold medal winner Stephen Kiprotich making the team as well. However marathon runner Abraham Kiplimo will miss the Games due to injury. “Although Kiplimo qualified for the Olympic Games, a long standing knee injury that has failed to get better has forced him to drop out,” said Otuchet.
