Muslims at Nakasero Mosque in Kampala are calling for fair treatment before the law just like any other Ugandan. They decry the continued torture and detention of their leaders.

Addressing Muslims this afternoon at Nakasero Mosque, Sheikh Milad Kaluma, one of the leaders of Tabligh Muslims, said it is time for Muslims in Uganda to wake up from their comfort zone and demand for justice.

Siraje Kifampa Nsambu, the Nakasero Mosque spokesperson wondered why Muslim leaders such as Sheikh Muhammad Yunus Kamoga, the Amir Ummah and Sheikh Yahaya Mwanje have been denied bail yet people with similar crimes are out on bail.

Sheikh Yunus Kamoga is battling several charges relating to the murder of several Muslim leaders including Sheikh Abdulqadir Muwaya, the top Shia leader in the country, Mustafa Bahiga, the former Kampala District Amir and Kibuli Spokesperson, Hassan Ibrahim Kirya.

Sheikh Mwanje who was appointed as acting Amir was also picked up two days after Major Muhammad Kiggundu was gunned down on November 27th.

Both leaders have tried to apply for bail in vain. According to Kifampa, the judiciary system is full of politicians who are there to frustrate the justice system.
