Peter Kulumba, the Assistant Registrar Lwengo district, says despite hearing rumors about Bbaales withdrawal from the race, they are yet to receive a formal communication to that effect. According to Kulumba, they called up Bbaale to confirm the rumor, but he told them he was still consulting.

George Mutabazi, the incumbent Lwengo LC V chairperson could sail through unopposed should his rival, David Bbaale Mukasa stick to his decision to withdraw from the race. According to Bbaale, he has already asked his lawyers to write to Electoral Commission indicating his decision to quit the race.
He told URN last evening that he decided to quit from the race for the good of the NRM party. Bbaale contested against Mutabazi in the NRM primaries for the Lwengo LC V chairperson seat and lost. He rejected the polls results citing irregularities and opted to go independent.
Bbaale says they have agreed to integrate his ideas in Mutabazi's manifesto. His decision to bow out of the race follows a recent meeting chaired by Justine Lumumba Kasule, the National Resistance Movement-NRM party Secretary General during President Yoweri Museveni's campaigns in the district.
However, some residents claim Bbaale decided to quit the race after he was promised a job in government, saying this will dent his political career. Bbaale could neither confirm nor deny the claims by the residents.
In 2011, Bbaale dropped from the Bukoto South parliamentary by-elections and appointed Iganga Deputy Resident District commissioner. Mutabazi has welcomed the decision by his rival to step down from the race. He has promised to work with him to develop Lwengo district.
