About fifty pupils and nine teachers of Trust Infant School from Nakaseke district survived with minor injuries when a vehicle they're traveling in hit a State House double cabin pick-up, at Nkumba, the exact spot where a concrete mixer overturned killing an advocate early this year.

The children were traveling to Entebbe airport and other destinations for a tour.

The bus, an Isuzu Polo registration number UBA 839B hit the State House double cabin Mitsubishi registration number UG240C on the side pulling off it's front bumper before hitting a cab pavement and falling on its left side as children yelled.

The accident occurred at about 11:00 am.

A state house loader/break down was called in, lifting the damaged bus back to it's wheels and carrying away the damaged double cabin. The wreckages were towed to Entebbe police station.

A police officer on scene said the accident could have been caused by misinterpretation of traffic lights as the driver who fled the scene read those ahead at Nkumba University junction instead of the ones before.

"It's very easy for a driver not used to this road concentrating on the lights ahead instead of these ones. And by the time he realizes other vehicles have stopped, he is already hitting those Infront of him, or hits the pavement causing what you have seen," the offer intimated.

Nakiranda Efrance, one of the teachers praised God that children did not get major injuries as it was the teachers' side on which the bus fell.

"The children just fell on us.  But those with some injuries have been treated," Sima Abdu, another teacher said as she soothed the pupils some of who were still on shock.
