Police in Nakasongola town council have arrested a man for
allegedly killing his wife.
Timothy Kiweewa a resident of Matuugo village in Nakasongola town council is
alleged to have killed his wife Robinah Nampungu Turyabandi on Thursday.
Godfrey Kayondo the former LC 1 Chairman of Matuugo village says that after
killing her, Kiweewa called her relatives and informed them that she died of
He adds that Kiweewa later walked and handed himself to Nakasongola Police
Station where he told the officers that he found his wife dead.
Kayondo explains that on arrival the relatives found the dead body with
multiple wounds as result of suspected cuttings by sharp objects and beatings.
Kayondo says the motive of the killing is not yet known but residents accuse

Policemen later arrived at the scene and transferred the dead body to
Nakasongola Health Center IV for post-mortem.
Police also recovered a machete and an arrow which are believed to have been
used by Kiweewa.
Patience Namara the Nakasongola District Police Commander confirmed the arrest
of Kiweewa and says investigations into the murder have started.
Two months ago a man armed with machete hacked four people dead leaving
residents at Wabigalo trading centre in Nakasongola town in shock.
Another group also hacked to death Fred Bulega and Fred Mujuni all residents of
Kitego village in Wabinyonyi sub-county. These were killed three days later after
the first incident.
has since arrested one suspect Joshua Jjumba alias Sulaiman Kirabo Fred, a
resident of Wabigalo trading centre in Wabinyonyi Sub County and is currently
on remand at Nakasongola prison.
