Police in Namisindwa district have arrested a nurse of Bukhabusi health center III together with a boda boda  rider on orders of the Bosco Nabonge the assistant resident district commissioner over allegations of stealing two boxes of Mama Kits.

The suspect is identified as Everlyne Mutuka a resident of Bukhaweka parish, Bukhaweka Sub County in Namisindwa but attached to Bukhabusi health center III.

The boda boda rider who was also arrested after being found carrying Matuka at 8pm yesterday on Tuesday has been identified as Peter Khisa, a 30-year old a resident of  Khamwindo village, Shakiridi parish in Bukhabusi sub county.

While speaking to the media on Wednesday at Namisindwa central police station where the two have been detained, Namisindwa Asst RDC Bosco Nabongo said that Matuka was caught red handed on Tuesday at 8.pm with two boxes of government mama kits from Bukhabusi health center III taking them to her home.

He says that it was locals who reported her before her ordered for her arrest, saying she is going to be taken to court and charged.

Rogers Taitika the Elgon regional police spokesperson has confirmed the incident saying they have detained the two under case number 8/16/9/2024.

But according to Stephen Wasu Masai, the Namisindwa district health officer, Matuka has been a village health team VHT but not a nurse as she claimed. He says that the law should take its course so that others can take that as an example to others because as a district they condemn the theft of government drugs and other items.

But in being interviewed, Matuka dismissed allegations of stealing mama kits saying she was taking them to Buwatuwa health center II under Bukhabusi health center III located at neighboring Bukhabusi Sub county.
