John Robert Tukei, the Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, says the deceased’s relatives first picked his body from the crime scene before reporting to police. He said inquiries into the matter are ongoing.
The lifeless body of a man in Namisindwa district who disappeared on Sunday has been
recovered from Mount Elgon Forest National Park. The deceased has been
identified as Ezra Wesswa, a resident of
Bukiminyi village Buwere parish in Bupoto Sub County.
His lifeless body was found dangling on a tree Mount
Elgon Forest National Park on Wednesday by young boys who had gone to fetch
firewood. His father, Dison Wanalucha says
the deceased disappeared from home on Saturday last week.
Wesswa, who was still unmarried, has been
staying with his father because of mental problems. Residents say the deceased
had repeatedly threatened to end his life if his father doesn’t allocate him
another piece of land after disposing of the one he was allocated.

In related development, a woman in Bududa
district also took her own life over the weekend. The late Diana Namono, a resident of Namarango
village in Shikhulusi parish in Bubiita Sub County in Bududa district
reportedly committed suicide in a guava tree.
The area LC I Chairperson, John Wakwasi, says
the deceased’s body was recovered on Monday, a few meters from home. Her father, Patrick Meru, an LC V councilor in
Bududa district, says the deceased developed a mental problem after suffering a
miscarriage three weeks go.
