Uganda Cricket Cranes team captain, Davis Arinaitwe Karashani has said that the team will need to win their opening game against Canada when the International Cricket Board (ICC) World Cricket League Division 3 gets underway on May 23rd.

Speaking to URN at the Lugogo Cricket Oval on Tuesday the experienced Karashani said that the team has prepared well and they have a feel good factor in them that should be able to push them to good performances against the five teams.

The ICC selected Uganda to host the six nation event that runs May 23-30. In 2014 Uganda missed the chance to host the event after ICC withdrew the hosting rights because of worry over security in the country.

Six countries Uganda, Canada, Malaysia, Oman, Singapore and USA will vie for the coveted trophy and also battle to take the two slots at stake for promotion to Division II of the World Cricket League.

“We are all strong teams and none of our opponents can be underrated because they are coming here for business. I call upon Ugandan to come and give up the support that should be able to motivate us to win matches,” added the captain.

The Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) also unveiled the new red, back and yellow attire that will be used. Justine Ligyalingi, the UCA Chief Executive Officer thanked all the sponsors especially Mehta Group of Companies.

After opening against Canada, the Cricket Cranes will then play Singapore on May 24th in Entebbe before returning to battle the fast improving Oman team at the Kyambogo Oval on May 26th. The home team will face Malaysia in the last game on May 27ths before the play-offs and final slated for May 30th.
