New District Status Excites Terego Residents

The new Terego district which will take effect on July 1, 2020 will have its headquarters at Leju trading centre along Arua-Terego-Yumbe highway. The approval of the new district evoked excitement among residents and leaders, a number of whom believe that the elevation was long overdue.

Residents of Leju in Terego County are excited over the new Terego district that Parliament finally approved in the course of the week. The one county district was carved out of Arua to become the 12th district in West Nile.

The new Terego district which will take effect on July 1, 2020 will have its headquarters at Leju trading centre along Arua-Terego-Yumbe highway. The approval of the new district evoked excitement among residents and leaders, a number of whom believe that the elevation was long overdue.

Currently, work on the new district administrative offices is in high gear with the main block at roofing level. The new district has been offered more than 4 square miles free land by the locals on which a central police station, prison and farm, social amenities and recreational grounds are to be established.

Robert Mawa Drapari, the vice-chairman of Leju trading centre says that the people of Terego welcomes the district and all those intending to invest in it.

Reports indicate that the local councillors are already lobbying to form an interim council for the new Terego district.
