The newly
appointed Uganda Police Football Club Head Coach Angelo Lonyesi has vowed to
help the club to restore its glory.
Lonyesi will
take charge with immediate effect as the club fights to return to the Star-Times
Uganda Premier League. His first task will be to boost the morale of
players, ahead of the new season, he will also have to convince the team’s key
players to remain with the team in the Big league.
Lonyesi who
is returning to the club for the second time said he is aware of the task ahead
of him, but, nevertheless believes he will be able to help Police return to the
top tie in “just one year”.

Cue out: ...get good players”//
Lonyesi will be deputized by David Yiga, while Faisal Kanene will be the
goalkeeping coach.
The team's Chief
Executive Officer Arinaitwe Katurebe said they zeroed on Lonyesi because
of his experience and the history he has with the club.
“We have got
a new team that will take the club to the next stage, we are playing in the big
league, it is a big challenge so we had to scratch our heads and zero on
someone who we have confidence that he is going to take the team and bring it
back to the super league”. Arinaitwe said.
Lonyesi replaces Abdallah Mubiru who was sacked in April this year after having
a poor run of results. He was replaced by John Luyinda as interim coach who
failed to save the club from relegation.
