The Police
in Fort Portal have arrested Musa Oze, a Nigerian National for allegedly stealing
mobile phones. Oze was arrested with Patrick
Tumusiime, Bob Amanyire, and Mugenyi Hamidu all residents of Fort Portal.
Their arrest came after one of the victims whose phone had been stolen reported
the matter to the police.

Twesigye the Rwenzori Regional Police Spokesperson says that the police used
its CCTV cameras and were able to trace Tumusiime.
According to
Twesigye, when Tumusiime was interrogated, he led police to Amanyire, a phone
mechanic in Fort Portal who also deals in selling second-hand phones.
It is here
that police found Oze who according to police investigation was behind the
manipulation of serial numbers of the stolen phones.

According to Police, Amanyire failed to account for his stock
leading to his arrest.
The police said that they are also investigating how Oze entered the country and
how he started dealing with mobile phones.

The police have noted that some of the victims
who lose phones to thieves are only interested in replacing their SIM cards and
not reporting cases of theft to the police. He
explains that the failure of some victims to record statements jeopardizes investigations.
